Vegetable Farming

Vision: To provide quality vegetables at fair prices while exceeding customer’s expectations.
Goal: To raise enough funds to sustain the institutions programs.
Project Objectives:

  • To grow enough vegetables for consumption in the home.
  • To provide fresh vegetables at the comfort of our clients.
  • To equip our children with farming skills for self reliance.

Shelter Children’s Home continues to take a leading role in the care and protection of the vulnerable children. Currently the home accommodates 148 who are either orphans, abused, abandoned, neglected, destitute and girls rescued from early marriages of the Maasai Community. The home has continued to offer a home for the less fortunate.

Meeting the demands of the home is a daily challenge, particularly feeding, education and health. Shelter has operated with donations from well wishers.

Due to the ever increasing demands for the services to the children, Shelter Children’s Home is always looking for ways of generating income to sustain its laid down objectives. In view of the above, Shelter Children’s Home has embarked on vegetable farming as an income generating activity.

The idea is to grow assorted vegetables to meet individual family requirements. Shelter Children’s Home in collaboration with our partners has mapped 100 families for the same. A list of vegetables will be distributed to each family to enable them to select their preference.
